About AG Eric Holder’s comments…Americans aren’t cowardly about discussing race; we are cowardly on just about any topic we think may offend someone—race, religion, politics, sex, social issues, etc. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/19/holder.folo/

Someone please let me know what is needed to make you not be a racist—does every white person need 3 black friends or 6 black friends; what about Hispanic friends; and how many white friends does a black person need?

Why do we all need to heal. I feel perfectly fine, and what in the world constitutes healing?  Not to mention you can’t block God out of the occasion and think you are going to heal or redeem yourself. A nation that prides its tolerance on obscuring and deleting God and the things of God, now wants to heal. How does one heal thyself and determine when one is whole again? That is the problem, legislation will never fix the problem, and neither will a good ole talk. What people need is a heart change and that requires the love of Christ—something that many people would rather leave as a personal experience not a personified experience.

Read “The Shack” by William P. Young! Even if you aren’t a person who believes Christ to be the Son of God, you will find a very good action thriller.

If you are so fired up about black history, why fight for a month; why not fight to change history books, and commentary. I mean if blacks are an integral part of the American fabric, why not be intricately woven into the tapestry?

About the Delanos cartoon…Obama didn’t write the stimulus plan, as a matter of fact, the whole mission of the 111th Congress was to have a plan written before he was even sworn in. So, that means the cartoonist couldn’t possibly be targeting Obama. News flash, Nancy Pelosi is a monkey—that must really blow the stereotype out of the water.

  • Could it be that the cartoon is referring to the buffoonery of the legislation and all those who took part in authoring it? Poor monkey, he got the short end of the stick because I am certain he could have written a better piece of legislation.
  • What if a cartoonist drew Obama eating a cracker with some random line: should I assume that the target of the joke is a white guy?

This is the same kind of hypersensitivity that fueled the argument of racist Texans not voting for Obama. When Obama ran for office, main stream media said conservatives (especially in Texas) weren’t voting for him because he’s black. It can’t possibly be that he has a liberal stance, which is contrary to the conservative platform; and it can’t possibly be that Texas is overwhelmingly a conservative state—fiscally and socially.

Roland Martin on CNN with Campbell Brown is another one who likes to fan the fire. According to Roland even our schools are still segregated. Unfortunately, the segregation we see in our school system has little to do with race and everything to do with class. A slightly different argument, but one that should still be had and differentiated between. Schools are zoned, if you live in a poor part of town, it is likely that everyone in that area will attend the same school—it doesn’t matter if you are black, white, or green—it is all contingent upon zoning. As a matter of fact, I would argue that most things people classify as racism are classicism—violent crime, schools, lack of business development, etc.

None of this rhetoric dismisses the fact that Americans have the same problem as most of humanity and that is we like to classify things—it all started back in the garden when Adam had to name the animals. Now that ability has been perverted into classicism, racism, sexism, and just about every other “isms”.

Bottom line, until people grow up and respect differing opinions, we, as Americans, won’t be able to have a legitimate conversation about anything.
